MECOP: Multi-Engineering Cooperative Program

Conceived in the summer of 1978, MECOP was to be a collaboration between OSU and Oregon-based manufacturing companies that hired engineering graduates. The program has since expanded to PSU and added additional majors, including Computer Science and ISQA.

General information for PSU ISQA majors, including prerequisites, requirements, a timeline for applicants and a link to the application form follows below.

For PSU students majoring in Electrical and Computer Engineering, Mechanical Engineering or Computer Science, go to: http://www.cecs.pdx.edu/ip_internship.php

MECOP's main web site at OSU is http://mecop.orst.edu/. Please note that some information on this site does not apply to PSU students. If you have any questions about the PSU ISQA MECOP program, contact Becky Einolf at (503)725-3699 or by email

PSU SBA ISQA

The Multiple Engineering Cooperative Program Offers:

The MECOP program:

  • Is prestigious and highly competitive.
  • Leads to job offers for 85% of MECOP interns.
  • Pays approximately $40,000 over the course of two six month internships.
  • Aids students in developing key career skills and industry contacts.
  • The next round of internships starts Spring 2008.

You may be a good candidate to apply for this program in the Fall if:

  • You have completed or are enrolled during Fall term
in both ISQA 360 and 380.
  • You will complete ISQA 415 and ISQA 419 by the end of Winter term, before starting your first Spring/Summer internship.
  • You will complete ISQA 420 and 424 by the end of Winter term one year from now. .
  • Your business GPA is 3.0 or better.
  • You plan to graduate or are willing to delay graduation because of your MECOP internships until the end of Fall term two years from now (the Fall term after your second Spring/Summer internship)
  • You are able to relocate within Oregon, if necessary, for your internship.

About possible relocation:

  • More than 85% of all MECOP positions are in the Portland metro area.
  • Placement in other parts of Oregon (this has happened) will require students to relocate.
  • You must agree, in writing, to relocate, if necessary, as part of the application process.
  • Accommodations will be made for students with documented disabilities.
  • Students who indicate that they cannot relocate for any reason other than a documented disability will not be considered for MECOP placement. (Unfortunately this includes family concerns such as a partner's job or children in school as well as financial concerns such as mortgage payments.)
  • Services are provided to assist students who must relocate to find affordable housing.
